Στην Κρήτη ζουν δεκάδες αρχαίες ελιές ! Σύμφωνα με επιστήμονες αρκετά από αυτά τα ελαιόδεντρα ζουν πάνω από 1.500 χρόνια !! Το 2009 πολιτιστικοί σύλλογοι της Κρήτης σε συνεργασία με το ΤΕΙ Κρήτης άρχισαν μία προσπάθεια καταγραφής των αρχαίων ελαιόδεντρων. Συγχρόνως ενημέρωναν τους κατοίκους του νησιού για τη σημασία των δέντρων αυτών. Ειδική ενημέρωση έκαναν στους ιδιοκτήτες της καθεμιάς υπεραιωνόβιας ελιάς.
Τα αρχαία ελαιόδεντρα συνεχίζουν να μας προσφέρουν τους καρπούς τους…. Να μας δίνουν το λάδι τους !

In Crete there are dozens of ancient olive trees! According to scientists, many of these olive trees live for over 1,500 years !! In 2009 cultural clubs of Crete in collaboration with Technological Educational Institute of Crete, began an effort to record the ancient olive trees. At the same time they informed the inhabitants of the island about the importance of these trees.
